Just in time for Johanna's birthday, my prezzie for her and the eight in my series of portraits. Meet Belladonna, the GryphonRider Seer!
Schooled into a picture perfect noblewoman, this young lady discovered her powers around the time her parents (an highly influential family of ol fashioned courtiers) passed away. She masters the gift of the Sight, which allows her to see people and events from the past, present and future. In fact, it soon turned out that Belladonna is an amazingly strong Seer for being so young. Nevermind that, she's sweet, demure and fiercely loyal to her King. Deathspear has been craving for her from the very moment she was introduced to the Royal Family, wanting her as his mistress. As for Queen Rainlight, let's just say that she's intensely wary of the strong influence that the young Seer has on the Lord of Killbeak Mountain
So here she is, materializing one of her "visions".
I had great fun drawing Belladonna. I knew this pic would be a challenge, because I had not worked with light effects for a while and I really wanted it to have a ghostly feel to it. But in the end it was so worth the effort as the portrait slowly took shape before my eyes. I'm so happy - it has just the right atmosphere I wanted for this pic. Oh, and do you see the symbols? The wolf, the sun and the stars? Well those are supposed to be visions of the future which often present themselves in allegoric ways ^^ The rest, including the two elfin shapes are either from the past or the present. On a side note I really like the way Belladonna's hair turned out! And the dress doesn't look too bad either. All velvety with sharp lights and shadows. Working on the background was also great fun. And yet the one thing I love most about this picture is definitely her pose.
*has to drag Deathspear away from the computer* Down, Deathspear! Down! You're a GryphonRider Lord, in the High Ones name, not a Tramp!
Anyway... I really hope you like her, Jo ^_^ And may you have a fabulous birthday! :-D

Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
